Why Boulder, CO?

Founded in 1861, the city of Boulder has a reputation for attracting aspiring explorers and people with big dreams. In its early years, seekers were looking for gold, though the name “Boulder” came about as large boulders in the creek made that difficult. Today, many come looking for adventure, health, beauty, and a high quality of life.

Home to the world-class University of Colorado, a diverse mix of key industries, major government research facilities, visionary entrepreneurs and the nation’s most highly educated population, Boulder’s economy is truly unique in size and diversity. 

The city sits at the top of lists comparing cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and general quality of life with that of other cities in the country. As a result, the population continues to grow at a steady rate. Boulder spent decades planning its urban interface to successfully include both homes and accessible land, resulting in an abundance of preserved open spaces across 45,000 acres and 150 miles of trails for hikers, runners, dog walkers, climbers, mountain bikers, and everyone in between.

In recent years, home values have risen quickly and while that trend is forecasted to continue for the foreseeable future, it’s estimated that the rise will not be as dramatic. Commercial property, on the other hand, is rising, not in the number of buildings, but in their value. Attributed to restrictions in new construction, the result has led to existing properties being used longer and remodeled as needed. This is in contrast with much of the rest of the country where commercial property is often built, rented for a few years, then abandoned for newer properties.
